On the one hand the cupboard....on the other, the garden.....

It's that time of year when despite the fact that there is a mini-project sitting on my work-top, and beads to restring....the call of the garden (rain or shine) is just that bit stronger.

I feel duty-bound to demonstrate that miniatures have not been entirely abandoned. This rather ordinary cupboard knocked together from scraps of mountboard and wood is one day going to be the toy cupboard - hence a box of toys sitting there to inspire me.  The plan (such as it is) is to paint it all over with 'picture book' style characters, animals or fairies maybe, so that it will look like a toy cupboard instead of a tatty wardrobe.

Back in the garden, everything is coming up roses - except in the wild garden where everything is coming up pink campion and foxgloves...and moon daisies, poppies and yellow rattle.  I love it.

I'll just show you the pictures..........

There are more pictures of course - I'll keep those till next time, just in case the toy cupboard is not further forward....

Thank you for looking
Robin,

The toy cupboard is, of course, lovely - but your garden is really beautiful. I am so envious of your foxgloves. They just will not take in my garden. I agree about the call of the garden at this time of year. But this summer I am decided not to just work in the garden but also to sit outside and do embroidery and actually ENJOY the mildness and beautiful flowers. (Trying to do minis outside is futile, stuff just keeps blowing away!)

Your toy cupboard looks lovely already, but what a great idea to use 'picture book' style characters, animals or fairies for this purpose.
I'll confess that I envie you for your garden, such beautiful and colorful flowers! Here, in my region, lots of flowers have bloomed out, or are withered because of the persistent summer weather with extreme hot temperatures and the downpours of last week did the rest of 'demolition', no fun for flora and fauna. But for me, with severe hayfever, it's so good to be able to breath again fresh air :).
Enjoy your garden, Robin, if it wasn't for my hayfever, I would come over for a short visit and for drinking together a cup of tea, enjoying your beautiful garden;).
Hugs, Ilona

Your toy cupboard sounds like it's just the ticket to keep your finger in the mini pie whilst giving you ample time to enjoy your outdoor garden space. I wonder why it is that digging around in the dirt, playing with plants, and constantly pulling weeds is so satisfying to the soul? I find that no matter how tired and sore I get from my exertions in the garden, it is a good sort of exhaustion which I wouldn't wish to forfeit, and I think that you probably feel the same way too. ;)

I've read your three comments and smiled - we must be kindred spirits. I enjoy your blogs so much as well - the next best thing to sitting in a garden and enjoying a cup of tea together.

I love your garden and look forward to seeing more pictures. The flowers are so beautiful and you have much the same plants that I have. I love the toy cupboard idea, can't wait to see it further along! I know the garden is calling! Thanks for your visit!
