Technology!!! I'll Stick to Sculpting Little People

It won't come as any surprise to those of you who know me, that technology in its many forms is a total blind-spot for me.  I was very fazed by the sudden disappeareance of some Followers - until a lovely lady explained it all.
I'll stick to the matter in hand which is getting some 1/48th characters ready for the stand at The Thame Dolls House and Miniature Fair on 27th February, here in Thame, Oxfordshire.
 
I'm hugely indebted to the talented Catherine at Kilmouski http://kilmouskiandme.blogspot.co.uk - for restoring my 'equilibrium'........I thought I must be just getting a bit boring... she explained why a number of us are seeing our Followers vanish! Take a look - much better than me trying to explain it.

Moving on rapidly - my head has been down working on some new 1/48th characters.  These do take a while as there are many steps in creating a life-like character with a unique sculpted face ( hate moulds) that is also fully pose-able.  Actually believe it or not they can take longer than a doll in 1/12th or 1/24th scale.
So, as a first for me in this scale here are a Tudor couple and a pair of monks!! The policeman is a character I do make occasionally - those helmets are such a pain!!!

None are taller than 1 1/2 inches but are really detailed nevertheless.  The monks have bare feet and sandals and as you can see the little policeman has both handcuffs and truncheon.
Next time I'll picture some of the others, including ladies and gents who will fit into many a 1/48th abode, both 'period' and 'modern'.  At the moment they all need some hair!
They will be for sale first on our Coombe Crafts stand at The Thame Dolls House and Miniature Fair and it will be first come first served - sorry they can't be reserved.

Here Come The Little Ones.....

I've been talking about creating a 'batch' of 1/48th people for ages now - The Thame Dolls House and Miniature Fair in about two  weeks has made it a  matter of some urgency!!  So finally here are pictures of some of the ones that will be on our stand.

The very tiniest dolls are, like their bigger cousins, individually sculpted and poseable so they're all very different little characters.  They also take as long to make, despite being so much smaller, which is why I make so few in comparison to the other scales - fitting a pair of trousers onto a pair of 1/2 inch legs is tricky to say the least.....

I'll have a group of ladies in long frocks as well as more modern outfits of course, and the chaps come in cheery sweaters or 'old boy' shirts with braces and belts so they'll work in a variety of homes. 

I've also had fun with some new characters alongside the policeman, witches and shopkeeper that always seem to find homes very quickly - so this time along with others there's a workman in dungarees and flat cap, a milkman and a couple of tudor peasants.

You may remember the 1/48th stream-side cottage a blog or two ago -  many thanks to everyone who suggested names for it.  I was struggling but have finally decided on 'Dingle Cottage' - The Dingle' being the stream that flows from the ancient mill pond somewhere in Wiltshire.
