LEST WE FORGET

This Sunday people will gather together on Remembrance Sunday to honour the many thousands of military personnel and civilians too, who sacrified their lives for the freedom we have today. Others paid with damaged health and minds.

The ceremonies - some very large and some quite tiny -  are all moving and important and sometimes very hard to bear for those attending.

On Remembrance Day itself, Monday 11th November we shall pause during the traditional silence and think of them all.

Thank you
Robin

There were only 5 of us at the little village War Memorial at 11a.m. this morning. Tomorrow there will be about 40 of us, as the village school children come with a posy from each of the three classes. They take it very seriously and think it a great honour to be chosen to put the flowers down on behalf of their classmates or read out the names of the men of the parish who died and were memorialized there.

How lovely and very special!
Our town turned out well, lots of children and their parents too which is good to see.

Here in Canada, at the war memorial in our capital city, Ottawa, they have a moving ceremony every year. A fly past with planes, bagpipes, and the lone bugler, which always moves me to tears.

That sounds a wonderful ceremony too. Yes the lone bugler gets me too!
