Another Old Salty Sailor

Among the most popular of my characters in both 1/12th and 1/24th scale is an old sea dog -  long retired from a full life on the boats but still to be seen sitting in the sun on the sea wall in many a small fishing port.

Shall we call him Fred -  joining the long line of pals who are now living in various parts of the world in neat white-washed seaside cottages and quayside settings.  Fred is 1/12th scale and as he's helping out a mate is lugging old nets, ropes and floats down to the harbour for the next trip.

Hmmm - haven't see the sea for a bit.....feel a trip coming on!

The garden  is begining to look really floriferous (super word that!) with late spring flowering bulbs and shrubs putting on a show.  Not to be forgotten is the humble little violet which loves this garden and spreads and seeds everywhere - I have to be very hard hearted to thin it out later .....but not now!

AN EXQUISITE AND UNIQUE COLLECTION OF MINIATURE GLASSWARE !

I have just been hugely lucky enough to purchase a wonderful antique miniature glass tea set.  I am SO excited!!

My great mate Celia Thomas of KT Miniatures has acquired a unique life-time collection of antique and vintage miniature glassware which is now available to purchase and is flying out of the door as I type I believe.

As many of you will know, apart from being chums and partners in Nostalgia in Miniature Workshops, we live near each other so I spent a wonderful morning recently looking at this unique collection from a collector who has now had to downsize.  I was in heaven!!
I  think individual items are  Victorian through to 1930s but take a look at the website - I'm no expert!!

Anyway........while I would love to own lots of the  pretty/unusual/exotic/beautiful/rare/unique  pieces I have fought my way through the crowds to purchase this wonderful (1910-20 I reckon) tea set which I think is so-called mercury glass and has the most wonderful metalic greeny lustre.  It reminds me of the fabulous vintage glass Christmas tree baubles I played with as a child and occasionally shattered into thousands of glittering wafer-thin shards.

Maybe you'll be tempted like me, but if you just want to have an indulgent few moments looking at 180 examples of the finest, wafer thin glassware and learn a little more about it click HERE...go NOW and follow her links!!

More 1/24th Scale Gardening

As it's been rather lovely weather I have managed to get out into the full sized garden for a little essential weeding - actually rather more extensive weeding is necessary.......but I have also been working and it seems that miniaturists are going gardening too!

First up is a little lady who certainly isn't going gardening but is a friendly little waitress in the local tea rooms - perhaps she'll have time to plant up some geraniums after work for her own little garden.

Three gardeners now who are not all working in the same garden, but have stopped for a chat.

Finally a one-off 1/48th lady - a gift for special friends. We're calling her Dorcas Lavender.

I hope the sun is shining for you all and do thank you for popping in and the many kind comments often left for me and much appreciated.
